What is your most terrible memory?

sad one here buddy

Watching dad convulsing from the adrenaline drugs after his heart attack.  Looked like he was climbing, and he was yelling "help"

you asked. :(

I knew it was going to be a rough one. Tomorrows will be on the brighter side :)

Mine, I haven't dealt with any 'close' family deaths. Aunt and Uncle passed away but part of my dads family that I'm not really close with. It was rough watching my dad go through that. Hardest thing for me was watching my dad go through radiation/chemo/stem cell therapy. Kicking someones ass completely by poisoning them. Watching them come to basically the edge of death/energy/life. Hearing my dad say if he knew what it would be like, that he wished he wouldn't have done it. Life's a cruel bitch.

dude.

thats it. its seeing your Father who you naturally saw as your superior...protector... whatever, being vulnerable. its a weird thing.

and, hefe. you just broke me.

sad, but again, these things just make us who we are.

Related side topic: either of you guys see the tv show "this is us" if not, do it. No funnies... no weird stuff. Serious family show. its just damn good. Episode last night. Guy takes his Dad(Whom he just met, after being adopted) on a trip to memphis, where he grew up, the Dad KNOWS hes not going to make it home. Guy Watches his dad die. there's a scene where he tells him "you did alright, everythings fine don't worry about me, ill be ok" Cut me up inside. because I experienced that exact thing.  :(

Anyhoo....seriously. watch it. I swear its worth your time. ABC i think?

mine is actually just shitty...

my mom got the call that he was in an accident (riding in a pickup bed) and was in surgery (we found out later, they lie on the phone so you don't wreck yourself on the way over)
mom calls me... your brother is in the hospital... meet me there..
and since I was about 20 minutes closer, I beat her there..
the nurses after some coaxing tell me he died at the scene (massive head trauma)
they didn't want to tell me shit since I was only 17 at the time
finally Mom shows up..
she says to me.. "where is he.. still in surgery?"
I look at her... the nurses (cunts) walk away... they won't tell her shit....
mom starts panicking.... looks back to me... "tell me where he's at!!!"
me: "he didn't make it mom... " she looks confused... "he died at the scene"..
mom literally hits the ground with a thud.. sobbing...
it was the saddest thing I've ever seen...

the movie La Bamba did a good job re creating that
https://youtu.be/4fREU5a6B4Q (about 1:50 .. I cry every time )

Mom and Tom were VERY close, she was pregnant at 15 with him, so they literally grew up together...
it broke her beyond repair.. she still is messed up over it.

they wanted me to "Identify the body" I said fuckyou! .. not happening
mom finally composed herself enough to do it... and that wrecked her again...

I had to handle all the funeral arrangements.. she was unable to talk for a long time
had to take Valium to cope.. and that made her a zombie

Tom died on September 5th 1987
the funeral was September 8th 1987 (mom's 37th Birthday)
we tried to postpone, but she wouldn't let us

on a lighter note..
I have learned that death brings out the worst in MOST people
but my uncle (Mom's big brother) stepped up big time
basically moved in for a couple weeks, helped with everything he REALLY stood tall
sometimes it brings out the absolute best too!

man alive....

my hearts heavy my friend.  Certainly wasnt trying to take away from the seriousness by the "made us who we are" comment.

with you on bringing out the best AND worst.

reminds me of a story.... there is an ex Business contact of mine, who became a friend(retired now) used to work on a couple of my printers. I would call errors in late at night, expecting Next am hed show up... hed always come in, and be there ALL night. then work most of the day.... 18hr days... For years I kinda just joked with him about being a dedicated Xerox-man and he would just smile, and give a little laugh... lol ... one night I asked him why he worked so much, and truthfully, wish I wouldnt have.  Im a huge jerk.

He told me they'd lost their 16 yr old son to a drunk driver on his very first drive by himself.. the guy's wife was an almost non functional human being for awhile, he said, and became an alcoholic (treated and recovering thankfully)... And they found, that if they just sat at home, they would just drink and be sad, and take it out on each other.. "might as well get paid for feelin shitty"

was VERY happy to watch that guy walk thefuk outta here his last day... I could actually see the years of sadness and stress wash over him, then disappear into thin air, as he said goodbye to me.... hes farming full time now. well, hes driving his Rhino around and "checking fences"

amen to bringing out the best/worst in people. When my dads brother passed away, my dad stepped up big time to help my aunt get everything organized/set up. They did a huge estate sale. We put in countless hours to get everything set up, marked, categorized, and organized. Once the estate sold. My aunt basically flipped out that my dad was a worthless bum and wasn't willing to help with anything. Haven't heard from her or her family now in about 2 years   Now, my dads mom is getting up there ( pushing 80), his sister, husband, and son moved back into her house to help take care of things.. Apparently they made some comment about how they will be inheriting a quarter million dollars when she passes away... It's like.. dafuq, is that all you can think about you money grubbing slugs. I told my parents when they start getting older.. liquidate everything, travel, spend the $. My bro and I can support ourselves. Enjoy what they worked so hard to create. The fact that people have this mind-set they are owed something or are entitled to something when someone passes away is just straight ignorant.
Not sure how I ended up here on this tangent. :help:
