Quad Tech seat
« on: January 05, 2009, 08:50:26 PM »

I recently ordered a Quad Tech seat. They have 3 seat covers to choose from Stock, Desert, and Hump. They also give you the option of purchasing a seat cover or a complete seat. Quad Tech offers a wide variety of colors to choose from. However they did not offer the color that I wanted so I gave them a call.

Experience with Quad Tech:
I asked if I could have a "Black-White-Blue seat, they said "yes". I also really did not like the fact that they have their logo 3 times on the seat cover. So I asked if I could have just one logo, they said "yes". I went with the complete seat and chose the "Hump" style. I went with a complete seat because I heard that their seats are a bit firmer then stock and I didn't want to limit my comfort. If you decide to order a complete seat, they use a OEM raptor 700 seat base. They also give you the option to send them your seat if you only want to purchase seat cover and they will install it for you. I ordered my seat on Tuesday and received it by Friday, from what I understand this is unusual. Shipping on their website states "Seat covers are constructed within five working days of receipt of the order and shipped UPS Ground."

My first impression when I opened the box was "HELL YEAH!". This baby looks great.

My first impression when I got it installed on my bike was "HELL YEAH!". When I sat on it though I was not as impressed. It felt stiff and narrow. I figured well hell, I can always switch the seat before I ride and keep this seat as a looker.

The next day I went trail riding. I almost took my stock seat too, but I wanted to give the Quad Tech seat a fair chance so I opted not to. First impression of riding, well I was so excited about riding I didn't think about the seat for about an hour or so. When I remembered I was on my new seat I started paying attention to it. I noticed I was riding faster and more aggresive then I normally would. As a matter of fact, I would have slid off the stocker a few times if I were on it. This Quad Tech seat really plants you to it. My butt didn't hurt like I expected it to, hell it didn't hurt at all. I put about 6 hours of riding time on it and was very very happy. The next day I went duning and put about 8 hours on it and still it felt great. I am usually all over my bike when riding and I only felt the edge of the hump a few times, but it was nothing that bothered me.

Rating 1-10, 1 being horrible 10 being excellent.

I give this seat a 10 for looks
I give it a 10 for comfort
I give it a 6 for cost (it's definitely on the costly side, but well worth the money.)

I have absolutely no regrets in buying this seat and will never go back to my stocker. If something horrible happens to this seat, I will absolutely buy another one without hesitation.

PS.... I forgot to add. It weighs 2.5lbs more then stock

Here are a few pics for comparison.

Awesome Write-up!

Do you know... If you send them your seat. Can you opt to get your original foam/cover back? Or would you have to take it apart yourself and send them just the frame?

You know, it never crossed my mind to ask. I"m sure they would send your seat cover and foam back with your new covered seat. If not, it only takes about 5 minutes to yank all the staples out with a pair of needle nose. They really seemed like they were willing to take care of most any requests.

I found this out after i had recieved mine in the mail. Oh well. I am thinking about sending my old seat off to get the desert seat and see how i like it.  This seat is a great improvment over stock.  I also thought that it would be too hard, but after a few hours testing it i like it A LOT better than the stock seat.  You butt stays stuck to it.  I noticed i could throw the bike around even easier, which alowed me to ride harder.  Great upgrade IMO.
