Title: yfz 450 shocks on 350 raptor
Post by: exentix on June 15, 2008, 05:14:43 PM
after yesterdays ride, ive come to the conclusion i want new shocks, but i dont want to spend a fortune on new ones, but after me and devan talked about it a little, he mentioned a thread from the "other forum" lol that a guys found a 350 for sale with yfz 450 shocks on it... anybody care to shed some light on this situation? is it possible? will it help the ride at all or will it mess up things so much it will be worse?

shit I dont have the elkas anymore
I can you tell you for sure a 450 rear will NOT fit.
I'm guessing the 350 had a widening kit like mine had but with a shock conversion kit also.

even though i just said i would do the same thing, i agree. I would have to think about dumping MORE money in a 350...

im pretty much done dumping money into it rk, except for some small things like tires after i wear mine off and im getting warning label covers, but i cannot stand the suspension on this thing, i had to stand up 50% of the time last time i went riding lol... but yea about that other part, you can talk to devan about that  im going to my corner to cry now  :'(

I hate having to ride standing up because the suspension sucks so bad.

I ordered some sweet warning label covers from here http://www.hardlooks101.com/items/yamaha/list.htm?1=1 .

I got a large left front fender tribal blank, and a skull and cross bones but i dont remember what border, and a mounting kit  :wootwoot:   $27 shipped

Should be here sometime this week. Ill post pics

Not the whole time though! Riding a bike with bad suspension you'll do anything to lessen the blows to your lower back and knees.

I have a friend that purchased YFZ shocks (front only) and had them modified to fit his Warrior.  A local shock guy cut them down and revalved them.

I received my yfz shocks and my warrior is sitting in the garage, I can look into it to see the difference for you

have you looked at their prices tho?... its like 400 bucks for brake lines and lowering kit and everything, plus the cost of the shocks, for that price i could buy elkas or something... then i wouldnt have to worry about the lowering kit breaking on a jump or something that would happen to me lol

if you look at their auctions instead of their buy it nows you can choose whatever kit you want if you win, i think ???

We will usually have auctions on shock converion kits and auctions on widening kits. We want to point out that if you win one of our shock conversion kits, you can choose either the Honda 300ex to 400ex shock conversion kit, or the Warrior shock conversion kit. If you win one of our widening kit auctions,

you can choose any of our widening kits (even if the model in the title of the auction is a different model). For instance, if you win an auction with the title "Honda 400ex Widening Kit" you can still choose to have us send you the Yamaha YFZ450 Widening Kit, just by sending us an email after the auction has ended. If you have questions about this, please send us an email and we will clear up any questions you still may have. DiamondJCustoms@yahoo.com

You already have the lowering kit for the front don't you? Buy that 80$ piece and a set of yfz 450 fronts, and there you go.

what the hell does that do exactly? allows you to run longer shocks?... it doesnt look very sturdy to me

Basically yea. Your very picky aren't you? You want cheap but you say it doesn't look sturdy. Your gonna ether have to go cheap or go elkas or works.

not cheap, i dont mind spending money on stuff that is worth it but i dont want to have my freakin shocks snap off in mid ride

it would be just as much to get that 80 dollar piece and yfz shocks as it would to buy elkas and get them set up for me specifically

Hey, I finaly got some pic of my yfz on the warrior, well it don't fit bolt-on, they are too long, there's too much distance for them to fit.... Here's the pictures

sorry it don't fit bolt-on, unless you do a little bracket.

What i would do if I were to really do this swap, i would make a bracket that bolt to both OEM upper shock mount then extend it to fit the higher upper mount of the shock, that would do the trick, but it takes time...

get the lowering bracket vreds. Or maybe the dimondj +2 extension, but just for the a-arms, leave the shocks at stock. SHould stretch it out enough to give you some room. Or, give me the shocks.

I don't want these on my warrior, it was just to show what a yfz front shock look like on a warrior and why they don't fit ;) they're on my 700 now.
